Community Giving Logo

As a public power company, Lakeland Electric places giving back to the community as a high priority. Lakeland Electric works to give back to charities, schools, sports teams, and art programs within our territory. By supporting local organizations like these, we hope to help fulfill the City of Lakeland’s mission to create a community that works together to achieve an exceptional quality of life.

Schools - Supporting education and, ultimately, the future leaders of our community is important. So, each year, through a partnership with the Polk Education Foundation, we award college scholarships to one high school student at each public high school in Lakeland. We also work with our territory private and charter schools on awarding student scholarships as well. Each student that receives a scholarship from Lakeland Electric must display academic excellence and is expected to major in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) related field of study.

Arts and Events - Some of the biggest events we are a part of are Red, White, and Kaboom, Polk City’s Halloween Safe Haven Event, and Lakeland’s Christmas parade. These events are an incredible way to be a part of the community. Our employees volunteer to provide their artistic talents on float building and event participation. By working at both larger and more intimate events, we can hear directly from you, the customer, and give back to our community more completely.

Sports – One way we give back is by supporting local sports organizations. These organizations utilize our city facilities, boost our local economy and enhance our customers' quality of life. Our relationships with organizations like the Detroit Tigers, the Lakeland Magic and the Florida Tropics provide world-class sporting events right here in Lakeland.

Community Giving Grants - If you are a State of Florida-registered charitable organization located within the Lakeland Electric territory, serving the public within the territory, please consider applying for our Community Giving Grant Program. Our grant program is an essential way Lakeland Electric creates strong partnerships with charities within our community. Every year, we give 30 organizations $1,000 sponsorships. The selection process is competitive because we at Lakeland Electric want to honor and help those who are doing the very best for our community.

If you are a State of Florida-registered non-profit organization located within the Lakeland Electric territory, serving the public within the territory, please consider applying for our Community Giving Grant Program. The selection process is competitive because we at Lakeland Electric want to honor and help those who are doing the very best for our community.
Each year we receive far more requests for sponsorship than our dollars allow. We will limit the amount of funding granted to each organization to $1,000.00. To assist us with our decision-making and ensure we maximize our outreach to the community, we ask that each organization that is interested in being considered for Community Giving Grant funds prepare and submit an application for review.
