Community Giving Logo

As a public power company, Lakeland Electric places giving back to the community as a high priority. Lakeland Electric works to give back to charities, schools, sports teams, and art programs within our territory. By supporting local organizations like these, we hope to help fulfill the City of Lakeland’s mission to create a community that works together to achieve an exceptional quality of life.

Schools

Supporting education and, ultimately, the future leaders of our community is essential. So, each year, through a partnership with the Polk Education Foundation, we award college scholarships to one high school student at each public high school in Lakeland. We also work with our territory's private and charter schools to award student scholarships. Each student that receives a scholarship from Lakeland Electric must display academic excellence and is expected to major in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) related field of study.

Sports

One way we give back is by supporting local sports organizations. These organizations utilize our city facilities, boost our local economy, and enhance our customers' quality of life. Our relationships with organizations like the Detroit Tigers and Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Arts and Events

Some of the most exciting events we participate in are Red, White, and Kaboom, Polk City’s Halloween Safe Haven Event, and Lakeland’s Christmas parade. These events offer unique opportunities to be part of the community. Our employees volunteer their artistic talents on float building and event participation. By working at larger and more intimate events, we can directly engage with you, the customer, and give back to our community more thoroughly.

Community Giving Grants

If you are a State of Florida-registered charitable organization serving the public within the Lakeland Electric territory, please consider applying for our Community Giving Grant Program. Our grant program is not just financial support but a testament to our belief in the power of community. Every year, we give 30 organizations $1,000 sponsorships. The selection process is competitive because we at Lakeland Electric want to honor and help those doing the very best for our community.

If you are a State of Florida-registered non-profit organization serving the public within the Lakeland Electric territory, please consider applying for our Community Giving Grant Program. Our grant program is an essential way for Lakeland Electric to create strong partnerships with charities within our community. The selection process is competitive because we at Lakeland Electric want to honor and help those doing the very best for our community.
Each year, we receive far more requests for sponsorship than our dollars allow. We will limit the amount of funding each organization grants to $1,000.00. To assist us with our decision-making and ensure we maximize our outreach to the community, we ask that each organization interested in being considered for Community Giving Grant funds prepare and submit an application for review.

Lakeland Electric Community Giving Grant Applications are now officially closed. We are deeply grateful for the community's overwhelming interest and enthusiasm throughout the application period.
