Lakeland Electric’s Social Media Policy
Lakeland Electric welcomes and encourages your comments to build an online community. The policies below pertain only to Lakeland Electric content; other organizations within the City of Lakeland may have different policies.
Our purpose is to present educational and informative posts to our followers and foster an atmosphere to discuss current events, tips, and savings. Lakeland Electric stands as the moderator for our online community. To highlight our commitment to transparency in government, Lakeland Electric (LE) has several web-based tools for outreach, education and information. These tools are not intended to replace other communication vehicles used for customer communication; rather, they are meant to augment our ability to educate, empower, and inform our customers.
While we strive to connect you to the correct department to fulfill your need, we do not use social media as a primary communication tool for matters such as account issues, new account set-ups, reconnects, disconnects, payments, or outages. To help resolve issues related to these topics, please contact our dedicated customer service lines via email or phone. We do our best to respond timely to comments and questions, but we can only guarantee a response during normal business hours.

Comments containing vulgar language are already screened and removed to retain a professional and family-friendly environment on our pages. Lakeland Electric also has the right to remove comments that fall under these descriptors:
· Obscenity, nudity, defamation, or hate speech.
· Speech that targets people or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or any other protected status.
· Comments/posts that threaten to harm individuals, groups, or organizations.
· Commercial advertisements or solicitations of funds.
· Endorsement or encouragement of illegal activities.
· Multiple off-topic posts or repetitive posts that are copied and pasted.
· Personal information including but not limited to full names of employees, e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, mailing addresses, or identification numbers.
