This October, Lakeland Electric is celebrating Public Power Week alongside 2,000 other community-owned utilities. Public Power Week is a way to recognize the connection in the community that we serve.

Public Power isn’t just local power, it expands to your community, your utility, and your power. Our work goes beyond keeping the lights on, and by joining other public power utilities across the country we can recognize the customers, employees and community partnerships that make what we do possible. At Lakeland Electric, serving Lakeland isn’t just our responsibility- it’s our purpose.

Affordable Power & Reliability you can count on

At Lakeland Electric, keeping electricity affordable is part of our commitment. We are among the most affordable electric providers in the state of Florida. Across the nation, public power customers paid 14% less than private utility customers.

Public power extends far beyond the monthly power bill; public power customers experience fewer and shorter outages. In 2024 customers of public power experienced 1.5 fewer hours without power than private-owned utility customers. By training year-round, we can ensure our employees are often first on scene after severe weather.

At the center of public power is a strive to keep resources local and putting our community first. Because Lakeland Electric is a public power utility, the work we do is centered around the people who call Lakeland home. From investing in local infrastructure to providing affordable and dependable services, Lakeland Electrics’ focus remains the same. It’s your community, your utility and your power.
