This past weekend, Lakeland Electric had the honor of participating in the 22nd Annual Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo in Lafayette, Louisiana. Sixty-four journeyman teams and 134 apprentices competed. The “rodeo” is a series of competitive events that showcases the incredible talent, safety, and teamwork of electric lineworkers from utilities across the nation, the rodeo was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. We are thrilled to share that our lineworkers not only represented us but also brought home prestigious awards, marking a significant achievement for Lakeland Electric. Dustin Zorn, following his first-place win at the Florida Lineman's Competition in Jacksonville, secured the second-place spot in the Apprentice Overall category. This remarkable accomplishment is a first for our team and a clear testament to Dustin's dedication and hard work. Additionally, Anthony Thomas clinched first place in the challenging Apprentice-Alley Arm Insulator Change Out event, showcasing his precision and skill. Dustin also earned third place in the Apprentice- Single Phase Conductor Tie-In with Armor Rods event, further proving his prowess and commitment to the craft. In the Journeyman category, our team, consisting of Bobby Barrows, Austin Carr, and Clark Grenfell, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill by securing third place in the 12kV 900 Amp Switch Change-out. This achievement is a reflection of their ability to work seamlessly under pressure and their overall capabilities as a team. These achievements are a testament to the dedication, skill, and spirit of our lineworkers. Participating in the rodeo goes beyond competition; it demonstrates a commitment to safety, excellence, and continuous improvement in serving our community.
