Electric Vehicle

At Lakeland Electric, we're committed to supporting the transition to electric vehicles for a cleaner, more sustainable future. This page is your guide to EV benefits, charging options, and how electric vehicles compare to gasoline-powered vehicles.

Our EV Commitment

As part of our commitment to sustainability, our fleet includes a state-of-the-art hybrid bucket truck that reduces emissions and increases efficiency while performing essential utility work. It's equipped with Altec's Jobsite Energy Management Systems (JEMS) plug-in technology, which automatically eliminates job site idling.

Our current fleet includes:
  •     Hybrid Compact Pickups
  •     Plug-In Electric Sedans
  •     Plug-In Full-Size Ford Lightning Pickups
  •     Hybrid Bucket Truck with Altec's Jobsite Management System (JEMS) plug-in technology, which helps eliminate engine idling at job sites and improves job site safety

These vehicles reduce fuel use and support our broader sustainability goals.

Why Go Electric

As a Lakeland Electric customer, you can enjoy lower fuel costs and reduced maintenance while helping to decrease greenhouse gas emissions in our community. With convenient charging options available and a growing network of infrastructure, driving electric has never been easier.

Gas vs. Electric: A Quick Comparison

Electric vehicles typically have a smaller carbon footprint than gasoline cars, even when accounting for the electricity used to charge them.

Charging an EV

Level 1: Is a standard 120-volt outlet. It typically takes 12 hours to recharge.

Level 2: This charger must be installed by an electrician. It is 3-5 times faster than level 1 chargers.

Level 3: DC Fast Charging provides an 80% charge in 20 minutes. Not suitable for home charging.

Where to Charge in Lakeland

You can plug your EV into a standard home outlet, just like your toaster. For faster charging, Level 2 and DC fast chargers are available throughout the area.
